Some examples of the development we can assist you with include:

Assertiveness:

(Approx. 2 hours)

This assertiveness training provides individuals with the skills and knowledge to enable them to communicate more confidently and effectively, using assertive behaviour techniques. During the session,  participants will have the opportunity to identify where they want to be more assertive and practice strategies for achieving a successful outcome.

 

Presentation Skills:

(Approx. 3 hours)

This session will provide staff with the knowledge and skills to design and deliver an effective presentation. It looks at each stage of designing, developing and delivering presentations (whether using PowerPoint or not) including defining your audience, structuring a presentation, delivering effectively and presenting online and in-person.

 

Change and Resilience:

(Approx. 3 hours)

This session focuses on how teams respond to change and how to build personal and team levels of resilience to embrace change. During the session, participants will develop an awareness of the stages individuals go through when experiencing change and learn to appreciate why change can be difficult for people. It will also provide techniques and tips to enable participants to feel more resilient as a team to tackle future change and high pressure situations.

 

Body Language:

(Approx. 1 hour)

This session takes a look at all types of non-verbal communication. It provides insights into decoding the non-verbal communications of others, including body language, eye contact, hand gestures and includes guidance on understanding neuro-diverse body language characteristics.

 

Giving and Receiving Feedback:

(Approx. 2 hours)

This session will be focussed on the role that feedback plays in enhancing excellence within teams and departments. It covers the main principles of giving and receiving feedback and the ways in which teams can build a culture of open and honest feedback to enhance productiveness and teamwork.

 

The 3Rs- The University’s Leadership Principles

(Approx. 3 hours):

This session will give participants a clear explanation of the 3Rs- the University’s leadership principles. It will allow participants to discuss how the Principles within the framework apply to their own roles and to their school/directorate’s work. The session will use the Leadership Framework to assess how effectively staff are demonstrating the behaviours in order to enable them to effectively work together.

 

Impostor Syndrome:

(Approx. 2 hours)

This course has been designed to support individuals and managers in understanding impostor syndrome and the impact it can have. The session combines knowledge, skills, and discussion to gain insight into impostor syndrome. To equip participants with skills and capabilities to support individuals in managing the impact of impostor syndrome.

 

Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI):

 (One day- can be split into 2 half day sessions) Costs involved.

The Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) is a self-assessment tool that helps people understand what gives them a sense of self-worth and what's important to them when relating with others. Rather than focusing on WHAT we do, the SDI® 2.0 helps us understand WHY we behave and HOW we relate to each other. Using Relationship Intelligence (RQ), the SDI 2.0 provides a common language for understanding what’s important.

 

Relationship building is more than a soft skill, and the SDI 2.0 plays a direct role in helping us relate to others – building our ability to improve dialogue. With a focus on our motives, the SDI 2.0 provides a critical connection to a key leadership skill – the “art of influence.” It is easier to communicate with, and influence, someone when what’s important to them is understood. This insight helps you choose the best approach for engaging people whose thinking and behaviour appear much different from your own.’

 

Participants will complete a psychometric questionnaire online which will indicate how likely they are to behave in various situations, both when they are feeling good about themselves and when they are under stress or in conflict. The results are plotted on a chart which identifies their motives as one or a combination of colours. An individual’s motives will determine how they behave and how they perceive the behaviour of others. Therefore, understanding their motives and those of the people they interact with has huge benefits in improving the quality of relationships.

The whole team’s SDI profiles will be plotted on a composite chart. The team then discuss the group’s strengths and potential blind spots and can revisit their results online.

 

Workshop aims:

To explore how our motives drive our own and others’ behaviour, how motives and behaviours change when in disagreement or conflict, and to use this knowledge to work more effectively as a team and with other stakeholders.

  2. Managing Differences and Conflict

  3. Understanding our Strengths and Overdone Strengths
