Lump Sum Awards
The Lump sum award scheme forms part of University’s arrangements for recognising and rewarding staff for exceptional performance and for their contribution to the University. The Lump Sum Award Scheme is designed to reward staff for a one-off or short-term contribution that is worthy of particular note. They are awarded by the Schools and Directorates. When paid to the employee, the lump sum is subject to tax and National Insurance deductions.
To make a nomination, the line manager accesses and completes the online form: hrforms.reading.ac.uk.
The completed form is sent to the Head of School or Directorate to authorise the reward. Should the sum proposed be more than £1,500, the form will also be sent to the Director of Human Resources. Once approved, the payment will be made to the employee in the next available salary payment.
Please note, any Lump Sum Awards will need to be submitted and approved by the Head of School/Directorate by 3rd December at the latest to be paid with December salaries.
Long Service Award
The University values the contribution of all staff and feels that it is important to recognise the commitment and loyalty of long-serving staff. All staff are eligible for a Long Service Award upon completion of 21 years' continuous service with the University.
The award takes the form of an email and certificate and gift vouchers to the value of £200. Heads of School/Function and relevant managers will be notified in advance of staff approaching 21 years' service who will be eligible for an award.
