About the Student Campus Card

When you join the University, you get a Student Campus Card. This card has a microchip for various uses:

  1. Enter and leave the Library.
  2. Borrow books from the Library.
  3. Enter your examinations room.
  4. Access 24-hour PC labs.
  5. Access study lounges at Reading Students' Union and TOB
  6. Access your hall of residence.
  7. Access other campus buildings (with permission).
  8. Use multi-function printing devices.
  9. Enter music practice rooms (with membership fees).
  10. Enter SportsPark (with membership fees). 
  11. Show you're a student for Council Tax exemption/reduction.
  12. Pay for printing and photocopying.
  13. Pay for items/services at MERL gift shop and café (with discounts).
  14. Pay for items and services at the Library information desk.
  15. Pay Library and laptop locker fines online.
  16. Pay for items/services at the Mail Shop (with discounts).
  17. Receive food/drink with a Clever Cuisine package.
  18. Pay for food/drink at ICMA Centre Café Bar (with discounts).
  19. Pay for items at the Art Shop (with discounts).

For some services, you need a PIN. Retrieve it from the Campus Card Portal.

Your photo will be part of your electronic student record. Carry your Campus Card as proof you're a student.

Conditions of use

By accepting your University Campus Card you agree to:

  • Keep your Campus Card and PIN safe and separate.
  • Use the Campus Card only for your personal work/study at the University
  • Not let others use your Campus Card
  • Take responsibility for transactions made with the Campus Card.
  • Report lost cards immediately to block them.
  • Follow the Rules for the Use of University Computers and Data Networks and the Rules of the Library 
  • pay any relevant membership fees.
  • Abide by terms and conditions for purchasing University goods/services. 
  • Abide by terms and conditions as printed on the Catering page.
