QAA Institutional Review
QAA Institutional Review (2012): Outcomes and Action Plan
The Quality Assurance Agency undertook an Institutional Review of the University of Reading in 2012. The review considered the University's undergraduate, taught postgraduate and postgraduate research provision, and evaluated our academic standards and the quality of the education which we offer. All universities in the UK are subject to review on a regular cycle.
We are pleased with the positive outcome of the review. In the four key areas the QAA review team made the following judgements about the higher education provision at the University of Reading:
- Academic standards at the University meet UK expectations for threshold standards (the best outcome which can be awarded)
- The quality of student learning opportunities at the University meets UK expectations
- Information about learning opportunities produced by the University meets UK expectations
- The enhancement of student learning opportunities at the University meets UK expectations.
The review team also identified a number of features of good practice, made some recommendations, and affirmed the actions being taken by the University in a number of areas. The report of the Institutional Review is available on the QAA website at:

The University Board for Teaching and Learning has approved an Action Plan which explains how we are addressing the recommendations, building on features of good practice, and progressing with actions already in hand. The Action Plan, which will be updated regularly, is available at:
