Areas of interest
My main current areas of interest are developing dissertation and research writing skills for postgraduate students, particularly Law students, and developing online learning materials for both professional development courses for academic staff and student-facing courses. Background
I have worked in the field of English language teaching and teacher development for over 30 years in Spain, Turkey, Hungary and Oman.
I have worked at the University of Reading since 2003, where I have been involved in assessment, curriculum design and resource development for English for Academic Purposes (EAP). I am now mainly responsible for professional development short courses for staff from international partner universities, focussing on areas such as EAP teaching, the methodology of teaching and learning in higher education, research writing skills in English and university management and leadership.
I also manage the design and delivery of short courses for students from international partner universities, to develop their English Language skills in the context of university studies. In teaching and learning, I work closely with the School of Law to develop and deliver modules to support international undergraduate and postgraduate Law students. I am the Academic Language & Literacy Liaison contact for Law from our Academic English Programme.
