SCONUL Summer Vacation Access Scheme
If you are a taught student from a higher education institution in the UK or Ireland whose library is a SCONUL member you may access the University of Reading Library during our vacations.
If you are a part-time, distance learning or placement student you may be able to borrow from us by using the SCONUL Access scheme.
What can I get at Reading under this scheme?
You will have access to printed stock in the Library and photocopying facilities. Access to materials in Special Collections may be possible. Please enquire at least 48 hours before any intended visit.
Borrowing privileges, access to electronic databases and the computer network are not included in this scheme.
How do I use the scheme?
Please bring your Library card from your home institution with you to the Library.
On visiting the Library you will be asked to provide photographic proof of identification, complete an application form and agree to abide by our Library rules.
Access information
Children/under 18s are welcome in most areas of the Library. Please see Family facilities information.
Disabled users

The main entrance of the Library Building is accessible for wheelchair users with push pads for assisted entry.

There are lifts serving all the floors of the building.
Parking
- Please note that there are no parking facilities on the Whiteknights campus, unless you are an blue badge holder.
