Digital Accessibility Enhancement Roadmap
University of Reading has a huge web estate with a variety of websites spanning across many different platforms and services. We try to make our websites and services as accessible as possible.
After an accessibility maturity audit by AbilityNet in the summer of 2023, we have developed our roadmap to enhance accessibility by addressing the identified areas for improvement.
Ongoing activities
- Complete the mapping of digital estate
- Clarify ownership, responsibilty, and governance processes
- Update job descriptions for new jobs involving digital content creation or digital communication to include knowledge of digital accessibility
- Create accessible exemplers and templates
Future activities
- Make effective use of Blackboard data – Deffered until the new Blackboard Ultra is rolled out
- Identifying "Reading Accessible Practices"
- Identify student journey issues by sampling typical student journeys and checking for friction points
- Explore prospectus
- Clarify lecture recording and video expectations
