Welcoming students from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture

The School of the Built Environment at the University of Reading comprises of the School of Construction Management and Engineering and the School of Architecture. It is internationally renowned for its research and education relating to the design, construction and operation of the buildings and places within which we live, work and play.

Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) is the only architectural university of its kind in Beijing, making it an ideal partner for our School of the Built Environment. Working together allows us to offer exciting opportunities for you to study in both Beijing and the UK.

2+2 partnership

The 2+2 partnership sees students spend the first two years at BUCEA and, subject to satisfactory completion, students then transfer to Reading on to Part 2 of BSc Construction Management or BSc Quantity Surveying. Students are awarded a degree from the University of Reading and a degree from BUCEA upon successful completion of the programme. Students from BUCEA are entitled to a 10% tuition fee discount.


Entry requirements


Successful completion of the first two years at BUCEA with an equivalent of 2:2 or above in the second year.

English language requirement: IELTS 6.5 with no component less than 5.5 in each band.

1+2+1 partnership


The 1+2+1 partnership sees students spend their first year at BUCEA and, subject to satisfactory completion, students then transfer to Reading on to Part 2 of BSc Construction Management or BSc Quantity Surveying. Following completion of Parts 2 and 3 at Reading, students will transfer back to BUCEA on to Year 4 of BSc Construction Management or BSc Cost Engineering.

Campus life

The School of Construction Management and Engineering is located within our beautiful, award-winning Whiteknights campus – a vibrant community with a wide range of facilities to help you study, have fun and relax. 

We have a newly refurbished library on campus in addition to a variety of venues to shop, eat, drink and socialise. 

Our award-winning Students' Union runs over 150 clubs, societies and volunteering activities. You’ll also have access to the extensive sports facilities on offer, including SportsPark. 

The University is within walking distance of the town centre and there are also regular buses from campus. Accessing London is simple, with trains from Reading town centre taking around 30 minutes. 

We offer a wide range of accommodation options to choose from, both on and around the Whiteknights campus.
