Athena Swan Silver Award

The School of Built Environment was awarded an Athena Swan Silver Award in April 2024.

What is Athena Swan?

The Athena Swan Charter is a framework which is used across the globe to support and transform gender equality within higher education and research.

The Charter was established in 2005 to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment. It is now internationally used to address gender equality more broadly, and not just barriers to progression that affect women.

Read our action plan for the renewal of our Athena Swan application.

For any questions or information about equality, diversity and inclusion in the School, please contact Dr Dragana Nikolić, School Director of Diversity and Inclusion.
