Towards Net-Zero Chocolate: Carbon and Nutrient Budgets for Compost Use in Cocoa Farms
Cocoa production is heavily dependent on chemical fertilizer which has huge carbon footprints. This research will focuse on sustainable cocoa production using cocoa pod husk to prepare compost and Biochar and use as soil amendments to reduce chemical fertilizer usage and carbon footprint in cocoa production. By studying the potential of compost and biochar in cocoa farming systems, I aim to contribute to creating more environmentally friendly practices and move towards net- zero chocolate industry.
