Background
Before joining the University of Reading, Professor Jacopo Torriti held teaching and research positions at the London School of Economics, the University of Surrey, the European University Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He is Flexibility Theme Lead of the Energy Demand Research Centre (EDRC). He is a member of Ofgem Academic Advisory Panel and Defra Economic Advisory Panel.
His books include Appraising the Economics of Smart Meters (2020), Energy Fables (2019) and Peak Energy Demand and Demand Side Response (2015) and are all published with Routledge.
Jacopo’s expertise is particularly well-suited for addressing questions associated with demand-side flexibility. The challenge of using energy at different times of the day or the year is shared by Demand Side Response aggregators, energy retailers and system operators. Jacopo’s research can support organisations interested in assessing the potential, impacts and implications of demand-side flexibility analysis on demand-side flexibility. An example of impact generated by Jacopo’s research relates to winners and losers of policy reform on electricity tariffs.
