Background

Dr Xu is a Lecturer in Built Environment and Physical Sciences. Her research focuses on sustainable building technology, with particular expertise in urban heat island mitigation, building energy performance, and the integration of innovative thermal-energy systems. She has extensive teaching experience across Architectural Engineering Design, Building Services, and Environmental Performance Modelling, supporting students in building simulation, retrofit design, BIM tools, and sustainable environmental design.

Alongside her research and teaching, Dr Xu holds BREEAM AP and BREEAM International New Construction Assessor qualifications, enabling her to provide applied expertise in environmental assessment and sustainable design practice.
