The MSc Psychology Conversion at the University of Reading is fully accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and is ideal for those with an undergraduate degree in another discipline who wish to pursue a career in psychology. After successful completion, you will gain an accredited qualification that acts as a steppingstone to a career in psychology.
We offer a modern, evidence-based introduction to psychology, covering core disciplines such as:
- development in typical and atypical populations
- neuroscience
- perception
- cognition social psychology
- differential psychology.
You can complement your studies with optional modules that align with the University of Reading’s strengths in research and clinical psychology, including evidence-based treatments or a research placement.

Access our specialist facilities
As a master’s student, you will have access to our state-of-the-art research laboratories, neuroimaging facilities, and observation resources.
Our School is also home to three public-facing in-house NHS clinics that enhance our teaching while providing invaluable support and treatment to the local community:
- Anxiety and Depression in Young People Research Unit
- Speech and Language Therapy Clinic
- Centre for Autism.

We offer an optional component to your degree, allowing you to tailor your studies to have a greater focus on the fundamental science of the mind and brain or pursue a career in a clinical psychology-related field.
Placements
Enhance your postgraduate psychology studies with hands-on experience with NHS-partnered clinics, professional training centres and research placements in neuroscience, developmental psychopathology and clinical research.
You'll have the opportunity to undertake an optional Research Placement module, working in one of our world-class research laboratories, with a wide range of disciplines and topics to explore.
Tailored seminars to support conversion
Our seminars and assessments are designed specifically for graduates from other disciplines. We also offer support sessions in statistics and employability skills for conversion students.
Schedule
The course’s compulsory modules are taught over two days per week between 9:00 and 17:00, allowing you to balance your studies with other commitments. Classes are delivered exclusively at the postgraduate level and are not shared with undergraduate courses.
