NUIST Reading Academy gets national recognition in China
14 June 2024
NUIST Reading Academy has been ranked in the top 20 China-Foreign Joint Education Institutes (JEIs) by a Chinese Ministry of Education group.
Our education partnership with NUIST (the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology) was ranked among 204 other China-Foreign JEIs by the 3rd Joint Conference on Sino-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools.
NUIST Reading Academy was one of 44 UK-China JEIs on the full list – one of 9 to make the top 20, and the only one in Jiangsu Province.
Global reputation boost
This recognition of the quality of the NUIST Reading Academy by Chinese authorities is welcome as it supports our global reputation ambitions and student recruitment targets.
The top 20 ranked JEIs are considered ‘gold standard’ in China and will help to raise Reading’s profile in the country, including among prospective Chinese students and partner organisations.
Dr Caroline Baylon, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), said: “Congratulations to all our colleagues in China and the UK working collaboratively at NUIST Reading Academy.
“This accolade is testament to our longstanding and successful partnership with NUIST that focuses on delivering programmes of high-quality with excellent outcomes for the Academy students.”
About NUIST’s ranking
The NUIST Reading Academy was established in 2015 and offers a range of undergraduate degrees in sciences and social sciences. It also gives students the opportunity to study in Reading for their final year.
The Joint Conference, which published the league table ranking NUIST JEI, was established in 2014 under the guidance of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Chinese Ministry of Education.
It is voluntarily composed of the main leaders of Chinese-foreign cooperative education institutions approved by the Ministry of Education, and is a national networking platform for international education exchanges and cooperation.
NUIST Reading Academy is also one of the 20 Chairman Institutions elected in 2022.
