Reading rises in Guardian University Guide 2022 league table

The University of Reading has improved its position in the Guardian University Guide 2022, moving to 61st place in the latest league table.
Among the improved metrics in this year’s edition of the University league table, the University of Reading was 5th in the UK for ‘value added’, up from 27th in last year’s ranking, and helped improve the Reading’s position for the second consecutive year.
The value added score compares the proportion of students achieving a first or 2:1 with the likelihood based on their entry qualifications. The top five ranking for the University of Reading for value added in 2022 is also the second consecutive year of improvement.
Career metrics and continuation rates also scored highly for the University of Reading. Career after 15 months held a maintained score of 81 which placed 39th; and continuation rates saw a 94% continuation rate, seeing both metrics placing in the top 40 institutions across the UK.
Six out of the 28 subjects that that have been ranked in the latest tables have made the top 25% of ranked institutions, improving on the three top quartile subjects last year and seeing better positions in 18 subjects.
Subjects in the top 25% of ranked institutions are:
- Education (10th)
- Earth and Marine Sciences (7th)
- English and Creative Writing (19th)
- Business, Management and Marketing (29th)
- Design and Crafts (18th)
- Accounting and Finance (25th)
