#UniForReading: New guide for would-be charity board directors
13 January 2021
A business leader hopes his new book will encourage would-be board members to volunteer to lead the boards of charitable organisations.
People who are looking for a New Year's resolution that could make a real lasting difference to their community and change the lives of thousands, and who have the right skills, could become an independent board member of a charity, a sporting body, a school or college, or an NHS trust, for example.
The new book, by alumnus and ambassador of the University of Reading, Gerry Brown, entitled Make a Difference: Leadership, Change and Giving Back the Independent Director Way, explains how.
For a limited time until 26 January, the full text of this helpful and informative book is available free from this link: https://www.degruyter.com/view/title/580618. Copies can be downloaded as a PDF or e-book for free until then. Please download a copy or share the link with anyone you think might benefit from understanding more about becoming an independent director, along with the possibilities and practicalities of this dynamic and important role.
