Climate Education Summit: Carbon Brief published a blog by Professor Andrew Charlton-Perez (Meteorology) highlighting the importance of climate in the classroom. - Professor Rich Allan (Meteorology) is quoted in i News about temporary reductions in greenhouse gas emissions during the pandemic.
- That's Thames Valley TV interviewed UoR student Emily Woodhall, who was part of a student team at the University that developed a new online course aimed at young people wanting to learn more about tackling climate change. Reading.co.uk also reported the story.
- Greatest Hits Radio has published a story on how the climate stripes, created by Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology), have inspired a new fashion collection to be unveiled at a London Fashion Week show by ethical designer Lucy Tammam.
COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic
- Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) spoke to ITV Meridian about the upcoming winter, BBC Northern Ireland about vaccines for 12-15 year olds; LBC News, BBC Radio Manchester and BBC Radio Berkshire about the PM's Winter Plan. Dr Clarke was also quoted in Mail Online, and other publications, about booster jabs; i News about vaccines for children; as well as China Economic Net, Health Medicine Network and Research Professional News.
- Professor Ian Jones (Biological Sciences) is quoted in The Times for an article about the Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine; and German publication Spiegel about fertility and vaccination.
- Dr Al Edwards (Pharmacy) spoke to BBC Radio Berkshire about rising hospital cases - his interview was played in news bulletins throughout the day and was used for a Q&A style piece on this morning's breakfast show.
Cabinet reshuffle: Dr Mark Shanahan (Politics) spoke to BBC Radio Sussex and BBC Radio Surrey about the PM's cabinet reshuffle, in particular Dominic Raab's move. He is also quoted in Newsweek for a piece on the California Governor's election, where vaccine mandates were high on the political agenda.
