COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic
- Professor Jon Gibbins (Biological Sciences) commented on cases of blood clotting following Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccinations on the BBC 6 o’clock and 10 o’clock news; and his comments were included across national and regional BBC bulletins including Radio 4, Radio 2, and BBC Radio 6. Prof Gibbins also spoke to BBC Berkshire, and his comments on clotting were used in The Star. In addition, Reading Chronicle report on Prof Gibbins’ public lecture last week about understanding how Covid-19 itself causes dangerous clotting.
- Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) spoke to TalkRADIO (and here) to answer listener questions; spoke to BBC Berkshire and is quoted in the Daily Mail (and in print), Medical News Today and Express Informer about the Ox/AZ vaccine; and in the Salisbury Journal about a study of those becoming seriously ill from Covid.
Eden Project: The Guardian (and in print) report on the development of the Eden Project, and notes that with the support of the University of Reading they manufactured soil using local minerals and compost.
Droughts: Profs Peter Inness and Len Shaffrey (Met) are quoted in the Mail Online about a new study on European droughts.
