COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic
- Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) was interviewed on Friday's TalkRadio breakfast show, Russia Today on safety of vaccines, and Iranian TV on the anniversary of the WHO declaring a pandemic. He spoke to the Daily Mail about low take-up of vaccines in Labour UK constituencies, The Sun about risks of rising infection among children, and HuffPost about risks of hay fever sneezes spreading Covid-19. Dr Clarke also continues to be quoted widely globally, incl by France 24, Stern (Germany) and News (Azerbaijan), on the deadliness of the ‘Kent' UK variant.
- Dr Al Edwards (Pharmacy) quoted in The Times, New Scientist, and multiple news sites via Press Association on new antibody therapy drug to treat those with serious effects of Covid.
- Professor Jon Gibbins (Biological Sciences) quoted widely, incl the Sun, HuffPost, Evening Standard, Daily Mail and widely in regional media via Press Association about blood clot risk, after regulators said the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is safe.
