Space Hurricane: Coverage of the analysis of satellite observations involving Professor Mike Lockwood (Meteorology) that revealed a space hurricane in Earth's upper atmosphere continues to be covered globally. Good Morning Britain showed the illustration and the story was reported on websites including the Evening Standard, Metro, BBC Science Focus, Daily Star, International Business Times, IFL Science, The National, Space Daily, Phys.org, Tech Times, WP Tech (Poland), Eurasia Review, CNET, USA Today and dozens of other US news sites and television channel websites. The story has been a hit on the University's social media channels, with 105,000 views on Twitter, and almost 650 clicks and counting through to the news story on our website.
COVID-19: expert comment on the pandemic
- Dr Simon Clarke (Biological Sciences) spoke to Talk Radio about infection levels and easing restrictions; and is quoted by the Daily Mail and Amed Post on why different areas have different infection rates.
- Professor Ian Jones (Biological Sciences) is quoted from his comment piece written for the Lancet last month by the Express, CNBC, MSN News and Daily News in Sri Lanka on the likelihood of the Russian Sputnik vaccine being used in the UK.
