Summary module description:
A Personal Project which is begun during the Post Graduate Certificate. This encourages the student to identify a theme of personal development as a coach, over the duration of the Masters programme. They will refine and adjust their project as they progress through the programme, and receive coaching from other programme members. A portfolio of evidence demonstrating material upon which the student can reflect in their final write-up will be collected over the course of the programme. This will include feedback from external sources and personal reflections.
The overall intention is that the Personal Project complements the Management Challenge, as the final stages of the Masters programme. The Personal Project is designed to be inward looking, whilst the Management Challenge is about an external application of what has been learnt.
Aims:
£ to develop the skills of self-awareness, reflection and reflexive learning
£ to develop a strong personal identity as a coach, and be able to articulate this to a variety of audiences
£ to focus on core skill development, and identify success criteria
Assessable learning outcomes:
£ self-awareness demonstrated by reflective writing supported by external evidence
£ on-going personal development, demonstrated by performance leading to evidence behind the reflective writing, such as feedback from coachees, fellow students and tutors on the programme
£ evidence of links made between the content of programme modules, personal application of this and the topic of the personal project
£ underpinning awareness of the literature in the field and appropriate use of references from various sources
Additional outcomes:
• increased resilience and confidence, both with individual coachees, and with organisational sponsors • highly effective use of coaching supervision, and ability to provide supervision for others • high level of personal resourcefulness as a coach • contribution from the work carried out in the personal project to the work done in the Dissertation
Outline content:
The topic for the Personal Project will be selected by the student, with assistance from tutors on the programme. Coaching input from other programme members will also contribute to the clarification and development of the Project. Guidelines will be supplied with the course materials, and time will be made available during the modules of the programme for the student to work on their project. The personal learning log, which is kept throughout the programme, will form a core element of the Project.
Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
Input and guidance will be given at intervals throughout the programme, during the workshops. Written guidelines for selecting and scoping the Personal Project, and writing it up in a reflective style, will be supplied with the programme materials. The student will learn from reflecting upon their own experiences, and gathering feedback from those they have been working with. They will be encouraged to think about their own evidence procedure for understanding the impact they have on others and
about their success criteria for being an excellent coach.
