Summary module description:

This is the first module of three, making up the Post-Graduate Diploma level of the programme. This module develops some of the themes begun in the Certificate in Coaching, and explores some of the more difficult situations a coach can face. This includes interpersonal issues, coaching topics, and contextual issues, such as cross-cultural coaching, coaching and behavioural change in the international arena and the business of coaching itself.

The module runs over 3 months, consisting of two workshops, of three and two days, and inter-workshop activity including peer coaching and learning group work. Work with external coachees, with real coaching issues, will form part of the experience of this module.

Aims:

  • To equip students with knowledge, understanding, judgement and skills to recognise difficult or challenging coaching and behavioural change situations, and handle them effectively

  • To ensure students are able to manage their own coaching business or practice in an ethical way, with appropriate boundaries and contracting practices

  • To broaden students’ horizons in the field to enable them to engage with more challenging assignments, with individuals and organisations
