Summary module description:
This module is specifically focused on the concept of digital technology as an enabler and provider of competitive advantage as an aspect of digital leadership and how and what leaders should understand about digital technology in order to make necessary leadership decisions in a digital environment and workplace.
Digital technology leadership is specifically aimed at developing leadership skills in programme members regarding technology concepts and the application of leadership principles. It aims to develop technology leadership in individuals, teams and organisations. It is delivered by a combination of face-to-face workshops, small group activities, personal reflection and self-study, over a period of several months, alongside other modules covered in this stage of the programme.

• Technology & Process Operating Model
• Technology Leadership & Capability
Assessable learning outcomes:
Knowledge of a range of different theoretical work process, technology and design models and technology leadership concepts
Awareness of different approaches and perspectives of digital technology principles, operating models, governance and leadership
Application of technology leadership concepts to business cases to enable informed leadership decisions
Critical appraisal of technology leadership concepts and development of related analytical skills
Additional outcomes:
- ?Understanding and experience of knowledge of people, process and technology aspects and its interaction to enable successful digital technology leadership
- Understanding and exploration of participants’ analytical and design ability related to digital technology leadership decisions

Brief description of teaching and learning methods:
Teaching methods include working in a whole group of up to 50 with one or two tutors, and in smaller groups of up to 8 programme members. Other learning activities may take place in pairs and individual reflection, for example to discuss and review the application of the principles in examples from the member’s experience.
Teaching includes input from tutors, demonstrations of techniques and practice in small groups. Plenary discussion and table discussions are encouraged. Formative and summative feedback is given as appropriate.
Participants are expected to draw on their practical leadership and technology experience in their own or other organisations to support their learning and their assignments. They have access to the Virtual Learning Environment throughout the programme, until the end of their registration period.&n bsp;
Programme members are encouraged to keep a personal learning log, paper or electronic, during both this module and the complete programme.

Assessment:
This comprises a final written assignment of 5000 words, based on the experience of the leadership practice and personal leadership development during the overall period of the module. This should reflect on the activities which took place, learning reflections, and be underpinned with reference and critical analysis of the relevant literature.
The assignment is the only piece of work assessed in this module. It is expected that the participant will reference the other elements of their development portfolio, such as learning logs and reflective documents, and include them as required in the appendix of the assignment. These additional elements of the portfolio will be included in the same electronic submission as the assignment.
Assessment submission is according to the assessment schedule for the student’s cohort.
Formative assessment methods:
The interim task between lectures provides an opportunity for quality formative assessment and to check and develop understanding. Feedback from tutors and peers is formative and supports leadership development during this module.

As university post-experience postgraduate programmes.

Minimum of 50%
