Summary module description:

This module is for students studying MSc in Financial Regulation (FCA) only. 

Aims:

This module is intended to encourage thought leadership and to develop your ability to willingly and critically approach regulatory problems using different lenses and perspectives. This module is therefore also intended to widen your appreciation of your role and to give a lens through which the world of financial regulation may be viewed differently by exploring insights from other disciplines that can be applied to the regulation of finance.

Outline content:

This module exposes students to insights from other disciplines that can be applied to the regulation of finance. Topics within this module will build on the University of Reading’s and invited scholars’ wider subject matter expertise in a range of specialist areas that are of interest to regulators such as history, informatics, psychology, sociology, politics, international relations, law and human biology.

Brief description of teaching and learning methods:

Taught content for this module will primarily be delivered as a distance-based SPOC (Small Personalised Online Course) with additional support available over a residential weekend for ICM139 at Henley Business School (Greenlands Campus). Where appropriate materials and learning will also be shared through the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) that is intended to facilitate and aid your learning journey within the MSc Programme

2,000 word coursework essay due in or after week 10 of the Spring term

50% weighted average mark.

Reassessment arrangements:

By resubmission of coursework only, as part of the overall examination arrangements for the MSc programme
