Funding success for project on 'Fake Latin'

Peter Kruschwitz (Classics) was awarded a British Academy Small Research Grant worth £ 4.7k to pursue his project 'Fake Latin: Reassessing Forged Linguistic Data'. This entails funding for a Postgraduate Research Assistant as well as for a workshop (to be held in Spring term 2012).

Reading set to host Researchers Night

Esther Mijers (History) and Peter Kruschwitz (Classics) applied for funding from the European Research Council in a bid for Reading to host 'Researchers Night'. Title of the funding bid: 'Reading Humanities: Language, Text, and Power'.

Researchers Night is a major European outreach event, to take place in September 2011.

Our funding bid made the first cut, which means that Reading is among the 54 contestants for about 50 institutions, Europe-wide, to obtain funding for this event.

If successful in the forthcoming period of negotiation, this will provide Reading's Arts and Humanities subject with a fantastic opportunity to communicate our exciting and diverse research to the general public.
