Entrepreneurship
The KTC works closely with the Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship – established in 2007 and delivering leading-edge research in the field of entrepreneurship and start-up businesses. Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship also offers initiatives for students through Henley Enterprise Lab (HELAB). HELAB offers business idea and start up clinics year round, whilst also co-ordinating three major events for students annually, with each one helping students take another step towards starting their own business. They also offer additional opportunities to support students in throughout their entrepreneurial journey.
Henley Centre for Entrepreneurship and HELAB also offer support in entrepreneurship for our alumni community, and for local businesses.
Each year, working with Early Career Researchers (ECRs), the KTC manages the University’s entry to the national Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (YES) which helps develop business awareness and entrepreneurship skills in our postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
The University of Reading is delighted to have a cohort of Entrepreneurs in Residence, of which some are funded by the prestigious Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence scheme, sharing their expert knowledge and experience with academics, early-career researchers and students to help them build the entrepreneurial skills and thinking required in the commercialisation of their research.
