Develop the Knowledge and Confidence to Support Safe and Healthy DSE Working

Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessors play an important role in helping colleagues work safely and comfortably when using computers, laptops and other display screen equipment. This course is designed for staff who have been nominated to coordinate DSE assessments within their Department or School and to support colleagues who report issues through the online assessment process.

Through a combination of practical guidance and system training, participants will gain an understanding of DSE risk assessment requirements, workstation set-up principles, and the effective use of the Cardinus system.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognise when specialist advice from Health & Safety Services or Occupational Health is required.
  • Use the Cardinus system to monitor, review and administer DSE assessments within your area.

Who Should Attend?

This course is suitable for:

  • Staff nominated to carry out DSE assessments within their Department or School.
  • Staff responsible for administering the DSE assessment process.
  • Health and Safety Co-ordinators or others who require an overview of DSE procedures and the Cardinus system.

Participants are expected to attend all parts of the training programme.

Pre-Course Requirements

Before attending, participants should:

  • Be nominated by their Department or School to act as a local DSE Assessor.
  • Complete the online DSE training and assessment to familiarise themselves with the user experience of the Cardinus system.
