Codex Committee on General Principles (16th Session)
The Committee:
- Agreed to ask the advice of the Commission on how to proceed with the Proposed Draft Working Principles for Risk Analysis, as regards their Scope and the use of precaution in risk management;
- Endorsed the amendment to the Terms of Reference of the Codex Committee on Food Hygiene and provisions concerning the selection of methods of analysis for inclusion in the Procedural Manual;
- Agreed to inform the Commission that there was no consensus at this stage on either the amendments to the composition of the Executive Committee or the alternative of holding sessions of the Codex Alimentarius Commission on a yearly basis, as provided for in Rule IV.1, and abolishing the Executive Committee;
- Agreed on a number of criteria for the integration of "other legitimate factors" in the Codex decision process in relation to risk analysis;
- Agreed to ask for further comments on the Proposed Draft Revised Code of Ethics for International Trade in Foods and to consider it further at its next session;
- Agreed to forward to the Commission the proposed amendments to the Rules of Procedure concerning the membership of regional economic integration organizations and to inform the Commission of the discussions held on this subject.
