Codex Committee on Methods of Analysis and Sampling (23rd Session)
The Committee:
- Agreed to return for redrafting and further comments the Proposed Draft General Guidelines on Sampling;
- Agreed on criteria for the selection of methods of analysis for adoption by the 24th Session of the Codex Alimentarius and subsequent inclusion in the Procedural Manual, and agreed to develop guidelines on the selection of methods of analysis for use by governments;
- Agreed to recommend that the 24th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission adopt by reference the IUPAC Harmonized Guidelines for the Use of Recovery Factors on Analytical Measurement, with a specific amendment;
- Agreed to circulate for comments Proposed Draft Guidelines on Measurement Uncertainty for use by governments;
- Agreed to consider further single-laboratory validation at its next session;
- Endorsed or amended a number of methods of analysis and sampling in Codex standards and proposed general methods for the determination of heavy metals and for the detection of irradiated foods;
- Agreed to consider methods of analysis for dioxins and for the identification of foods produced from biotechnology at its next session.
