Codex Committee on Fats and Oils (17th Session)
The Committee:
- Forwarded the Proposed Draft Amendments to the Standard for Named Vegetable Oils to include High Oleic Acid Safflower Oil, High Oleic Acid Sunflower Oil, and to update the composition tables of vegetable oils for adoption by the 24th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission;
- Agreed to forward Proposed Draft Lists of Acceptable Previous Cargoes and Banned Immediate Previous Cargoes for inclusion in the Code of Practice for the Storage and Transport of Edible Fats and Oils in Bulk for adoption by the 24th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, and agreed to circulate an additional Proposed Draft List for further comments;
- Agreed to forward the Proposed Draft Standard for Fats Spreads and Blended Spreads to the 24th Session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission for provisional adoption as a Draft Standard;
- Agreed to ask for further comments on the Draft Standard for Olive Oils and Olive Pomace Oils;
- Agreed to undertake new work on Mid-Oleic Acid Sunflower Oil, Palm Superolein, in view of the growing importance of these oils on the market.
