Matters for adoption by the Commission
The Committee:
- agreed to advance to Step 8 of the Draft Guidelines for the Production, Processing, Labelling and Marketing of Organically Produced Foods (livestock production)
- agreed to advance to Step 8 the Draft Amendment to the General Standard for the Labelling of Prepackaged Foods - section 4.2.2 on allergens (Draft Recommendations for the Labelling of Foods Obtained through Certain Techniques of Genetic Modification/Generic Engineering ).
Other Matters of Interest to the Commission
- agreed to retain at Step 7 the Draft Amendment to the Standard for Quick Frozen Fish Sticks (declaration of fish core) pending advice from the Committee on Fish and Fishery Products;
- agreed to return to Step 6 the sections on bees and on additives in the Draft Guidelines for the Production, Processing, Labelling and Marketing of Organically Produced Foods;
- agreed to return to Step 6 the Draft Amendment to the General Standard for the Labelling of Prepackaged Foods - section 2 Definitions (Draft Recommendations for the Labelling of Foods Obtained through Certain Techniques of Genetic Modification/ Generic Engineering)
- agreed to return to Step 6 the Draft Amendment to the General Standard for the Labelling of Prepackaged Foods (class names);
- agreed to return to Step 3 the Proposed Draft Amendment to the Guidelines on Nutrition Labelling;
- agreed to return to Step 3 the Proposed Draft Recommendations for the Use of Health Claims;
- agreed to return to Step 3 for redrafting and comments the Proposed Draft Recommendations for the Labelling of Foods Obtained through Biotechnology (additional mandatory labelling);
- agreed to discontinue work on Proposed Draft Guidelines for the Use of the Term "Vegetarian";
- endorsed the labelling provisions submitted for consideration, except for those in the Proposed Draft Standard for Aqueous Coconut Products.
