Event Information
As part of the Council for British Archaeology's UK-wide Festival of Archaeology, the Ure Museum is holding a festival of ancient textiles. This is a crafty, hands on session with lots to see and do, and everyone is welcome! There will be dyeing cloth using ancient vegetable dyes, simple weaving to make a small mat and decorative cord making. You will also be able to see evidence of weaving and textile making in the museum's displays, as well as view our Coptic textile fragments, which are 1500 years old! This event is fully inclusive, highly tactile and open to everyone.
It is free to attend but please book a place by emailing the education team at the Ure at ure.education@reading.ac.uk. We look forward to seeing you!
