Event Information
Barney Angliss will talk on the topic of self advocacy for autistic people. In his talk entitled "Breaking my silence: how I came to advocate for myself", he will explore the following topics with time for questions: how I came to be silent on some things and what that feels like how I found a voice, once, twice and three times what I learned from psychotherapy how I broke free the difference between emotions and mental states the role of self-narratives why your good is your bad and vice versa cognitive dissonance and how 'new information' leads to change leaving and arriving - you may not need someone else to advocate for you but you may need them to tell you when to do it The content of this talk is suitable for all to attend but is designed for an adult audience in terms of delivery.
The Wellbeing Hub is a new initiative, funded by University of Reading Alumni.
The aim of the Hub is to bring together autistic people, their families, practitioners and researchers to co-produce and deliver neurodiversity-affirming activities that support autistic young people and their families to thrive and flourish.
