Event Information
To celebrate the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology is holding its own ancient Greek sports tournament. Find out where it all began and what role sport played in the ancient world (hint: quite a bit!).
There will be a range of indoor and outdoor games and sports, with something to entertain all the family. Try your hand at the discus, the javelin and the shot put! Is running more your style?
Come and join us for our mini-marathon! A Victor and Victrix Ludorum (Winner of the Games) will be crowned, and there will be prizes for each category of the event.
For more indoor games players, we will have a range of ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian board games for you to try.
There will be object handling and the museum will be open for you to view our magnificent collection of ancient archaeological ceramics. For our youngest visitors, there will be crafts and colouring to do. This event is fully inclusive and all ages and abilities are welcome to join in.
