Event Information
Join us for our annual Wolfenden Lecture! The flagship event is organised in collaboration with the University of Reading LGBT+ Staff Network and Diversity and Inclusion Team. This special event is named in honour of the report written by The Wolfenden Committee, which was chaired by Lord Wolfenden in 1957, the University's Vice-Chancellor between 1950 and 1964. The report became a key milestone in LGBT+ history in the UK when it recommended that "...homosexual behaviour between consenting adults in private should no longer be a criminal offence." This year, we are excited to invite World, European, and two time Paralympic Rowing Champion, inclusion consultant, and public figure within the disability and LGBTQ+ community, Lauren Rowles, as well as Senior Lecturer and Founder and Chair of ReportOUT, an award-winning global human rights charity for sexual and gender minorities across the globe, Dr. Drew Dalton.
The event will be hosted by Dr. Ruvi Ziegler, Co-Chair of the LGBT+ Staff Network and Dr. Allán Laville, Dean for Diversity and Inclusion with support from Ceara Webster, Diversity and Inclusion Advisor.
“In the interest of making Wolfenden 2023 more accessible, the event will be hybrid. You can now register to attend Wolfenden virtually.”
