Arriving by foot, public transport or taxi
If you are already in Reading and plan to arrive by foot or by taxi, then you should make your way directly to the London Road campus, arriving at least 90 minutes prior to your ceremony, to allow time to collect the wristbands for your guests so that they can access the Great Hall, to collect your robes and join your procession.
If you are arriving by train, you should also make your way directly to the London Road campus. The nearest train station to the campus is Reading.
Great Western Railway (GWR) are offering a 20% discount on single advance fares which can be used in combination with a young persons railcard to offer a substantial discount. The offer is only available on selected routes, find out more.
By car
If you are coming by car you will be able to park for free on the Whiteknights campus. For sat nav purposes, the Whiteknights postcode is RG6 6UR. Please follow the AA signs for the Shinfield Road entrance to the campus where Security Officers will direct you to a car park. Toilet facilities will be available in the SportsPark Pavillion and Wristband Collection Point at Whiteknights. Parking is only available at our London Road campus for graduands or guests with disabilities or mobility issues (and where you have notified us in advance).
A free shuttle bus service will operate between the campuses throughout the day. Tuesday 16 July the first bus will leave Whiteknights at 09:45, on all other days the buses will run from 07:45. The last bus from London Road to the Whiteknights campus will be 17:30. When planning your trip please do allow plenty of time in case of queues for the shuttle buses and to ensure graduands have plenty of time to prepare for the ceremony. Buses will drop-off and pick-up from the Acracia Road entrance.
You should arrive at the Whiteknights campus to allow time to collect the wristbands for yourself and your guests that will allow entry onto the shuttle bus and into the Great Hall itself. You also need to allow for time to get to the London Road campus, collect your robes, and join your procession. You will need to make allowances for heavy traffic in Reading and the surrounding areas. Wristbands can be collected from 120 minutes prior to your ceremony.
