What is enrolment?
Enrolment is the process by which you officially become a student of The University of Reading. It means that you have given us all the information needed, paid your fees (or told us who will pay them on your behalf) and we have performed all the required checks to allow you to officially join the University and begin your studies.
You will have completed all steps of your enrolment once you have collected your Campus Card. You will then receive access to your university IT Account, emails, Wi-Fi, your timetable and the student app. You will also have access to print letters which will confirm your student status or help you to open a student bank account if required.
For most students, enrolment will be a smooth process, but you may require additional support from us. To ensure the smoothest start, you should complete enrolment as soon as you are able to and contact us if you are experiencing any issues.
Make sure you also check the pre-enrolment tasks necessary for some students, detailed in the new starters checklist and international students checklist.
If you are unable to make in-person enrolment, please refer to arrangements for late arrivals.
Please note that unless you are studying a dedicated distance-learning course you will not be able to access your University IT account or commence studies until you have arrived in Reading and completed every step for online and in-person enrolment. In most cases it is not possible to begin studying online before your arrival to Reading.
When do I have to complete enrolment?
Enrolment is made up of two stages; online (before you arrive) and in-person (on arrival day).
Please complete the online stage of enrolment as early as possible. Some international payments can take longer to be received by the University so please complete as soon as you can.
- In Person Enrolment once you arrive in Reading
You can enrol in person once you have completed online enrolment and you have arrived in Reading - Head to the Palmer Building when you arrive to complete in-person enrolment.
If you are an international student studying on a student route visa you must arrive and complete your in-person enrolment by the date specified on your Confirmation for Acceptance to Study (CAS). Further information on dates for completion of enrolment
