Avoid any charges by following these simple steps to make the end of your residency agreement and moving out of halls as smooth and easy as possible.
One – how to get your deposit back
Don’t delay the return of your damage Deposit! Make sure you’ve provided your bank details. Go to the Accommodation Portal and follow the links to ‘Arrivals, Departures and Deposits’.
Two – when are you leaving?
If you are still living in halls, you can find the last date of your contract on the Accommodation Portal. You need to leave your accommodation by 09:00 on the day your contract ends.
Three – start packing and cleaning
If you can avoid it, don’t leave packing to the last minute, it’s a bigger job than you think!
Please donate or recycle your unwanted, unused items and use our cleaning and leaving checklist to avoid any additional charges.
You need to make sure your accommodation is clean, empty of rubbish and belongings and that you have caused no damage to avoid charges on your Deposit. Don’t worry if you’re not keen on cleaning, we’ve created a simple checklist to make sure you’ve got everything covered.
Four – collect your post
Check all your post and parcels have been collected and your contacts are aware of your change of address. Any post received once you have moved out will be returned to sender.
Five – return your key/card in the envelope
All keys, fobs, cards (except your Campus Card) including your Wash station (laundry) card and postal locker keys must be returned on the day you leave. Sign and return the key return envelope to your local reception or the key drop box if reception is closed. If your Campus Card was your access card and you have lost any keys or your laundry card, you still need to return your envelope and it must be signed to signify that you have left your accommodation.
