Dr Pil and Dr Galia Kollectiv

Drs Pil & Galia Kollectiv, Lecturers in Art; Art Directors of Postgraduate Studies
  • Lecturer in Art
  • Art Director of Postgraduate Studies.

Areas of interest

Art and Politics, Irony and Overidentification, Performance, Belief, Film and Video, Immaterial Labour, Curating, Installation, Music, Writing.

Our practice is collaborative and interdisciplinary, encompassing film, performance, sculpture, costumes, music and collage. Our work addresses the legacy of modernism and the avant-garde and the relationship between art and politics.

We are especially interested in the role of art and creativity in post-Fordist labour. We often use choreographed movement and ritual as both an aesthetic and a thematic dimension, juxtaposing consumerism and religious ceremonies to find the underlying rites and convictions of a secular, post-ideological society. We also run xero, kline & coma, an artist run project space.

Recent lectures, seminars and workshops have addressed performance and video practice and theory, belief and radical orthodoxy, object oriented philosophy and sculpture, art and democracy and immaterial labour.
