Learn about animal behaviour, ecology and environmental management with a wildlife conservation course at the University of Reading.

At a time when climate change is having a profound impact on global ecosystems, wildlife conservation has never been more important. Our programmes provide all the skills you need for a career in ecology or wildlife management, focusing on:

habitat conservation
disease control
the protection of rare plants and creatures.

You'll also learn about evolutionary processes, animal and plant diversity, and how human intervention has an impact on worldwide ecosystems.

We offer flexible study options on our ecology and wildlife conservation programmes, including:

BSc Ecology and Wildlife Conservation with Foundation, which allows you to prepare for degree-level study while gaining subject-specific skills.
BSc Ecology and Wildlife Conservation with Professional Experience includes a year-long work placement, providing you with valuable experience in the environmental sector.

All of our wildlife conservation programmes aim to enhance your employability and vocational skills. The University has strong links with employers such as the Environment Agency, the RSPB wildlife charity, Thames Water, and the Met Office. We also work closely with environmental consultancies, including RSK Ecological Consultants and Tyler Grange. You’ll gain industry insights through visits, talks and professional placements.

As an Ecology and Wildlife Conservation graduate, you will also be eligible for membership of the Royal Society of Biology and Chartered Biologist status.
