The Graduate Institute of International Development, Agriculture and Economics (GIIDAE) offers a diverse range of scholarships, including those offered by the School, the University, and by organisations outside of the University. These are offered to enable students to pursue their studies at Reading.

GIIDAE scholarships

These scholarships are open to applicants worldwide who have received an offer to study on one of GIIDAE's programmes. Applications will be accepted until the final eligibility date, as listed for each scholarship.

Applications from eligible candidates will be considered throughout the award period. You are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as applications are assessed and scholarships awarded to eligible applicants as they are received. The average turnaround for a decision on an application is approximately three weeks.

Please note. Hundreds of applicants are competing for a limited number of awards that are subject to availability. If all the funding is allocated before the final eligibility date, we will post a notice to this effect on this website and through our social media accounts.

Meet our scholars

GIIDAE Empowering Change Scholarship

The Empowering Change Scholarship is awarded to a number of scholars who have demonstrated their suitability for the scholarship and have a track record of outstanding academic achievement.

The scholarship provides a contribution towards living expenses and a reduction in tuition fees. This scholarship is designed to support well-rounded students from a World Bank low- or medium-income country who seeks to create socio-economic change, using what they have learned through their postgraduate studies with GIIDAE.

GIIDAE Alumni Scholarship

The GIIDAE International Scholarship is available to University of Reading Alumni who are looking to study a Master’s programme with the Graduate Institute of International Development, Agriculture and Economics (GIIDAE).

The scholarship is made up of a number of scholarships and is open to University of Reading Alumni who are studying on any of GIIDAE’s programmes. This Scholarship may be held in addition to the University of Reading Alumni Discount.

Applications for study in the 2025/26 academic year will open later in 2024.

GIIDAE Scholarships will be posted later in 2024.  Applications will be accepted until the final eligibility date (listed for each scholarship). The Scholarships are open to applicants worldwide who have received an offer to study in one of GIIDAE’s programmes.
