The Graduate Institute of International Development, Agriculture and Economics (GIIDAE) at the University of Reading offers an outstanding postgraduate learning experience.

Based in the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development, GIIDAE provides the opportunity to study in a truly diverse community of students from more than 40 countries.

International Development

We offer six international development programmes, covering a diverse range of topics that include applied international development, agriculture, climate change, communication for development, environmental change and food security.

Agri- Food Economics and Marketing

Our agri-food economics and marketing programmes span agricultural economics, development finance, consumer behaviour, research in agricultural and food economics, and food economics and marketing.

Agriculture

There are two options for postgraduate study in agriculture. We offer an MSc in Agriculture and Development and, a master's by research in agriculture, ecology and the environment.

The diverse nature of GIIDAE's programmes reflects our international expertise. Our interactive approach to learning gives you a coherent understanding of theory, practice and current debates in international development, agriculture and economics.

Our reputation for international development studies is reflected in the latest QS World University Rankings, where we are the 3rd highest placed UK University (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024 – Agriculture and Forestry) for teaching and research and are ranked 27th in the world.
