Further Information on standard Admissions Checks
Any applicant to one of our programmes will need to meet the applicable Standard University Admissions checks, in addition to the academic entry requirements, for the programme they are interested in studying.
Any offer, or confirmation, of a place is conditional on these checks being satisfactorily passed. The standard checks that the University applies are listed below:
Criminal convictions
Certain programmes such as Teacher Training or Pharmacy require you to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure check (previously known as a CRB check) as standard. You will be notified of such a requirement in any offer made to you.
Declaration of Health
Certain programmes, within the Institute of Education and School of Clinical Language Sceinces, will require a satisfactorily completed, Declaration of Health assessment. You will be notified of such a requirement in any offer made to you.
Parental consent
Where you will be under 18 at the start of a programme, you will need to complete and return Parental consent forms. These will be sent to you following a formal offer of a place.
Professional skills tests
Certain programmes within the Institute of Education require satisfactory completion of a professional body test or exam. You will be notified of such a requirement in any offer made to you.
Verification of academic documents
We will examine, and where necessary seek confirmation from the awarding institution, any documents that you provide as evidence of achieving any required academic award. Where we receive results directly from an exam or awarding body, we will match these to any results indicated by you as part of your application. We will also expect you to provide full disclosure of all qualifications taken, particularly within the UK if you are a student from overseas.
Verification of English Language competency
Where you have provided one of the University's acceptable English Language Tests, we will verify the test using the test provider's results verification service (where applicable).
If you have been made an offer for the International Foundation Programme, this check will include confirming that you hold a valid UKVI SELT test
Verification of References
If references are supplied as part of an academic package, and not directly from the referee, we may contact the referees directly in order to confirm that the reference was provided by them.
If you have any questions concerning these standard checks you are welcome to contact the relevant admissions team, who will be happy to help you.
