Description
This pair of ice skates probably date from c.1900. They were used in Devon, although the donor claims that skating was not a common sport, with only perhaps one year in fifteen having the required weather. They were made in Sheffield by Thomas Ibbotson + Co., whose name is marked on the blade. They consist of a wooden frame on a metal blade; the user's shoes are strapped onto the wooden frame with leather straps.
