Description
This iron hanger was used for suspending pots and kettles over the fire. It would be hung from a chimeny crane or chimney bar by the two hooks, and the utensils would be hung from the hanger on pot hooks. Nothing is known of its origin.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This iron hanger was used to suspend pots and kettles over the fire in conjunction with a chimney crane or bar, and pot hooks. The hanger was hung by its hooks to the bar, and pot hooks were hung on it in its turn, in order to hold the utensils. // It consists of a horizontal bar 9.25 inches in length with a hook at each end running at right angles to the bar, and reaching 7 inches from it. // See also 51/868L.', Lavinia Smith Catalogue (D60/28) - 'A list of the contents of the East Hendred museum.
