Description
This bucket is from a bucket milking machine made by R. A. Lister of Dursley, in 1915. It was used at Ballard's Farm, in Edington. The farm adopted machine milking during the First World War but abandoned it soon afterwards. A new system was installed in the 1930s.
Physical description
1 milking machine: metal: fair condition; incomplete91/23/1 Bucket or can for the machine; 91/23/2 Lid for the bucket (rubber seal and glass window top); 91/23/3-6 Four teat cups with rubber linings; 91/23/7-9 Three short rubber hoses (1 missing); 91/23/10 Thule claw to which the rubber teats would be attached. The long hoses connecting claw to the can are missing; 91/23/11 Pulsator (attaches to top of can); 91/23/12 Vacuum top (Lister's patent) fixes to vacuum pipes. The support for the teats and hoses when not in use is missing
