Description
This is a saddler's plough gauge, used to cut strips of leather to a consistent width. The required width was set on the scale and the leather pulled through over the knife and under the roller, which steadied it. The plough is steel, apart from the roller which is brass. The knife is missing but was held in the slot in the head of the setscrew.
Physical description
1 Plough: metal (steel, brass); good condition, however knife is missing.
