Description
An auger is a boring tool used in a variety of woodworking trades. This is a shell auger, consisting of a T-shaped wooden handle, an iron shank, and a bit with a semi-circular section. It is stamped with the name of the manufacturer 'Isaac Greaves' on the side. It was found near a pond at the donor's farm in Cornwall.
