Description
This pewter jug with no lid was probably a milk jug and probably forms part of a tea set. The jug has four legs, a lacy design on the bottom, and decorated handle, spout and sides. It was made by Reed and Barton of Taunton, Massachusetts, and bears the number 1776.

MERL 'Catalogue index' card – 'This is a pewter jug, probably used for milk. It has no lid, but there may have been one at some time. // The bottom of the jug is decorated with a lacy design in pewter and four legs, which have been soldered to the main part of the jug. The handle, spout and sides of the jug are also decorated. It was made by Reed and Barton and bears the number 1776. It is 5.75 inches in height. // It was probably part of a pewter tea set of which 51/676 – a sugar pot – is also a part.', No Lavinia Smith No. recorded.
