  • Description
    This stoneware wine jar, for storing wine, came from a joiner’s shop on the estate of South Lodge in Horsham, West Sussex. It has handle, a flared mouth at the top for pouring with a worn cork stopper, and a bung hole near the base. The upper half of the jar has a yellowy-brown glaze, while the lower half has an oatmeal glaze.
